Editorial policy
Attribution before certainty
Statements by governments, armed groups and officials must be attributed. Casualty counts, responsibility for attacks and battlefield claims may change. We preserve the original source's uncertainty and do not turn claims into confirmed facts.
Quotes and context
Direct quotations must match the cited source. A paraphrase is not placed in quotation marks. Publication times are shown in UTC, and a source publication date is distinct from our publication time.
Automated coverage
Articles are prepared with automated tools from published source material. They are not eyewitness reports. The news desk byline identifies the publication, not an invented individual journalist.
Images
Generic editorial imagery is labelled as illustration. It must not be presented as photographic evidence of a specific attack, casualty or event.
Corrections
Material corrections are recorded in the affected article with an updated timestamp and a note describing the change. Source links remain available so readers can compare the report with the original publication.
Commercial separation
News selection is not determined by advertisers. Paid links, when present, must be identified as sponsored and cannot serve as evidence for a news claim.
