Pentagon confirms livestream of Fort Hood shooter’s execution
The Pentagon has confirmed that the execution of former Army major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009, will be livestreamed. The Defense Department said the public will be able to watch the firing squad on 3 December at Fort Hood, Texas.
First firing-squad execution in more than 60 years
The execution will be the first military firing-squad execution since the end of World War II. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the event would be public to demonstrate the consequences of such crimes. Hegseth also stated that Hasan would be executed by a firing squad of soldiers, a view he expressed in an interview with Real America’s Voice.
Presidential approval and scheduling
The decision was made after Hegseth’s recommendation and President Donald Trump’s approval, according to Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell. The Army secretary confirmed the date and location of the execution. The White House has not yet commented on the President’s stance on the livestream.
